I am having a problem with my CD-RW Drive. When I try to backup a Quicken account the message is "unable to access the disk in drive D. Please make sure the drive is available and the disk is not write-protected" When I try to save a file to a RW disk I get the message "cannot save 'D:\......' The folder is marked as Read only" I can copy a CD-R with no problem. Problems only arise with CD-RW disks. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
did you format the cd-rw??? on some of them you have to format them first before you can use them to put things on.
I must admit, I have done little to nothing with CD-RW and how they may or may not be used in ways similar to a floppy drive and/or ZIP drive. I have a client experiencing the same thing and with my limited experience I cannot determine if this is normal for CD-RW or if there is a procedure that allows you to save file from an application to CD-RW. My question is, what must be done in order to use a CD-RW the same as a floppy disk by being able to save, retrieve, and modify a file/document from an application and to be able to take it from one CD-RW drive to another and use it there?
Since my original question, I have found the solution to my problem. Even though I had bought the latest version of Easy CD Creator 5, the CD-RW drive was even newer and was not supported by the version of Easy CD Creator 5 I purchased. On the Roxio web site I found the upgrades that made my CD-RW acceptable to the Easy CD Creator program. It now works as it should.
