Hello again,...Quick question. My LCD TV sits on top of a TV stand. On each side there are some decorative towers, then a bridge on top. What I am wondering is if the top of the bridge is too high to set my center speaker on. The TV sits in between the 2 and 5.5 Feet distance from the floor. The bridge is just under 6 foot from the floor, meaning the speaker would be about a foot and a half above the TV. I dont know where else i would put it if this is going to be too high. Your math is a little confusing. If the top of the TV is 5.5 feet from the floor and this shelf or bridge is just under 6 feet, then how could the speaker be a foot and a half above the tv? You need to try the speaker on that shelf and its probably direct radiating so I'd aim it a bit down (the CSI-5 is designed to be "aimable") and adjust the center volume accordingly, also, depending on the system, you might be able to adjust the way the center dispurses sound. I'm guessing that you'll be fine but that is just a guess...depends on the speaker and the system but I'm guessing you'll be o.k. You'll be able to tell just by watching and listening. If the sound seems to be coming from the picture on the tube, you're o.k., if the picture seems to be a bunch to talking heads with their voices coming from the wrong place, you'll know immediately simply because it will be a strange experience but my guess is that you'll be o.k. if you angle the speaker down slightly and make the proper volume adjustments....Gerry
Thanks Gerry...sorry about the math. it will be just at 1/2 a foot or 6 or so inches above the TV. Ill give it a try like you said and go from there, I didnt know this speaker could be aimed. Thanks again.
At six inches, you'll be absolutely fine. I had much the same problem, my I have a lcd rear projection and the top of the tv is only a couple of inches wide so I put up a shelf over the TV attached to the wall and it jutted out above the TV; I think it was about eight inches. I aimed the speaker toward the seating area and it was fine; like you, I feared that the sound would be too far away to compliment the goings on on the screen but if was fine. Later, to save space, I made a TV and equipment stand where the center went directly under the speaker. They make some really great ones but I'm into woodworking as a hobby so I crafted it after my favorite (I'm also cheap and the good TV stands cost hundreds of dollars...it's easy to make your own and places like home depot will even cut every piece of wood to size if you don't have the equipment and they do it for peanuts. What cost seven or eight hundred dollars and made for about fifty.
