Ok I am in the market to build me my first computer. More than likely I am going to chose a AMD based processor and motherboard, 1gb of value DDR3200 ram, 200-300gb SATA Harddrive. I know that usually it is much cheaper to build your own computer and you can tweak it better to get better performance out of it. I recently went on Cyberpowerpc.com to just get a good general reference price between a decent entry level pre-built gamer pc and a pc I build myself. I was floored when I seen the "Gamer Ultra SLI Basic for 754 dollars. I mean this system comes with two Geforce 6600 256mb PCI-16 graphic cards, 160gb SATA harddrive, 3000+939 AMD! I can't find a "ONE" 6600 Geforce Graphic card for less than a hundred dollars nor can I find a SLI based motherboard for less than 95 dollars. With getting items from Newegg.com I can only build a similar computer for about 750 dollars but that doesn't include shipping. I mean newegg charges between 12.99 and 15.99 shipping on computer cases. Can any one assist me finding components to build a similar based computer and perhaps save a $100 or more?
Or can I build a computer with a 3200+ AMD, 250gb SATA HD, 939 motherboard with gbLAN, 7.1surround sound, 5.1 speakers, 1gb of value Ram, 2 NEC 3550A Dual layer drives, keyboard, mouse, 6200-6600 graphic card and MS XP for under $830?

Does that system actually come with the XP disc or is it installed?
That is always a big chunk of the cash. Look hard at the mobo specs, quality there is always lacking on mass marketed machines. For about the same price (± $50) you can have a much better system totally customized by you.

have fun with that prebuilt and building your own pc is cheaper when you build a quaility not stripped down pc....it might be 754 for nothing ,now congfigure that baby, the way you want it. 4000 grand usa dollars easy....you know what,i saw the same thing at best buy for 699 us dollars with a monitor...lol... have fun with those outdated mobo, etc that are put in them....thats all i have to say......peace...buy it bro and after six months come talk to me about upgrading cause you wont be able to...lmao....look at my stats, cant build that for 754....try 4-7000 usa dollars paid 2200 for everything.could have saved a 1700 us dollars but i wanted everything new...the video card cost me 600,mobo 300,xfi sound card 300,ram 227,ps 139,250 for 2 hd in raid 0,100 case,200 opt drives floppy,40 heatsink,239 cpu....do the math....didnt need anything but the mobo and the cpu, could of used everything else i had from my old pc.939 board and cpu will run you not even 300 us dollars theres cheap....lol...this is not cheap by all means.you can build junk for under 500 dollars easy and most store boughts are junk.....peace

The only reason I brought the cyberpowerpc computer is because I can't seem to configure one similar to it using online comparison sites for the same price or cheaper. That is why I thought maybe you all could steer me on the correct path to save some huge dough.

I think I can build a great pc for my needs that will be extremely upgradeable for atleast a year and can cost me under $950 but I just thought that the cyberpowerpc.com computer was a steal and still appears to be a still. Go over to it and tell me if I am wrong. But there is no way I am spending $200-4000 for a configured computer when the new AMD940 cpu's are coming out in 2006. It will support ddr-2 speeds probably starting at 667 and going over a 1000ghz and the dual core will have improved independent FSB and memory controllers so if you have 2gb of RAM then each core will have it's own dedicated gigabyte of ram. Plus Mac is coming out with intel inside, Intel is releasing and new chipset so their Dual cores may be better and may hit 3.75 ghz each core or faster. So if I were to spend that kinda of money the it on newer more advanced technology.

hey novice was just kidding with you.there are many good deals out there and if you dont care about onboard this and that, you will be fine....tech is fast latley but ram and video and sound are usally upgradable in store boughts..they just dont perform as good as a home built pc cause we dont have all the extra crap in ours.like all the extra stuff they put in windows for example, but you will have a company for support ,if something goes wrong.dont worry nice move, everything will be fine.have fun and enjoy....have a happy holiday mate...peace

let me know how it worked out for you,ok?

Well I stated before on this thread that I couldn't believe that Cyberpowerpc.com could offer a gaming system for 788 which included a MSI SLI K8N mobo, 2 evga 6600 graphic cards, 600 watt 2.1 speaker system, 160gb SATA harddrive, AMD 3000+ cpu. Well I actually configured one similar from various sites for much cheaper. Ok here goes:

Speakers from Walmart.com(Iconcepts Adrenaline 5.1 1200watt speakers for 32.98) Wireless KB and mouse by Labtec from walmart.com for 14.88

3000+AMD CPU from Ecost.com for 119.00 plus 6.95 for shipping.
MSI K8N SLI mobo from newegg.com for 99.95 plus 3.99 shipping
Western Digital 1600JB SATA harddrive from JandL.com(I believe) for 69,95 plus free shipping, Corsair 512mb ddr Ram for 40.99 from Zipzoomfly.com and free shipping. Evga 256mb ddr3 6600 graphic card 109 each from zipzoom fly free shipping.
The total is...... 606.69 minus shipping and taxes from ordering speakers and keyboard from walmart.com. Even if you add windows XP OEM you should still get system under 695 dollars. Saves you almost 90 dollars over the Cyberpowerpc.com and that is not even including the shipping that Cyberpower will charge you.

To rugripper: Appreciate the gentle prodding then. Took a bit of reseach but finally got to where I wanted. Even found a decent deal on 3700+ AMD San Diego core. I will be starting a thread involving a question about the 3700+ so maybe you can help me out.
