okay well, i am a total newbie to all this stuff... and if this question is answered somewhere else i am sorry for wasting space.
    But my question is..

How do you go about taking a audio file you already have and changing it to make it a higher quality?? I have EAC with LAME, but im not exactly sure what to do.. And i read somewhere where this guy is saying how average mp3 is about 5mb, and someone else said that that is large for a mp3, but most of my files are atleast 5mb, what am i doing wrong when ripping converting compressing or whatever you call it?

Im also wondering, say when i rip files of a CD that i would buy, they are origanlly in WAV format right? well when i use EAC and Lame to put them on my computer are they a higher quality then what they were on the CD if i make them mp3's? And what is higher in quality , Wav or Mp3?

it would be nice if someone could explain a little of this stuff to me because even though i try and read about how to use EAC and stuff, there is still somethings im not sure about or dont understand.

1st, you can't make the sound better than the original. You can clean things up maybe, but can't increase the quality. Now, when you make mp3's using eac and lame what is your kps setting?? The minimum should be 128kps. As you increase the kps, the sound quality increases as does the file size. hope this helps...
