Changing DVD +Rs to .avi files then reburning

    A friend gave me Seinfeld 1-9 to play on my computer--backed up from his own discs--and all 24 season episodes of each season fit on one DVD! Now I want to do the same with the 456 episodes of Dark Shadows I own--are there any free programs that transfer files ripped by DVD Shrink to .avi files so then I could put many onto a DVD rather then only 5 or 6? I am rather familiar with many programs--Shrink, DVD Fab Decrypter, VOBBlanker--are there any like VOBBlanker (that I have used to go from PAL to NTSC on discs I buy from Britain and then sell on EBay after I transfer them) that would be as easy to use?
