I am running on windows vista and I was wondering if there was a way how I could transfer over to a mac os safely?
the best way to transfer it would be 2 things 1 direct transfer cable 2 external hdd im pretty sure apple will do a free pc to mac file transfer for you if you bring it in to an apple store The Original Mr PuFin
Yep, Apple will do a transfer for free as long as you put everything you want transfered into a "Files to transfer" folder on your desktop. If you want full integration into OS X (iTunes in the iTunes folder, Photos into iPhoto, moved bookmarks, AKA Complete Setup), It's part of Apple's Pro Care yearly membership ($99/year). This gives you priority repairs, yearly tune-ups, priority service at the bar, backup consultations, etc. For most people though, the Standard Care works out fine.
There is a 40.00 piece of software called windows to mac that officemax sells and it comes with the cable and everything so you can transfer it by yourself.. This works nice if you don't want them to see what is on your hard drive.
If you have an external HD, simply plug it up to windows. Copy everything you want onto it. Once you're on the mac, hook it up to mac and you can copy the files to the mac no problem.
