i just put a dvd in my drive from a different region that i normally use. dvd shrink then told me my drive can only change my region code "4 more times". what is this? am i going to get cut off?
You need to flash your drive with firmware that will make your drive region free (i.e., read all region coded disks). Here's a link. http://forum.rpc1.org/portal.php
ok i found my nec nd-2500a drive on the list. i dont know which link/download i need. there are a bunch of numbers 1.06, 1.07.1.0a i dont know what these links are for. can you tell me what i need
Go here: http://tdb.rpc1.org/#ND2500A Select Windows 1.07 from: RPC1 and Rip Lock firmwares based on Windows 1.06, and Windows 1.07.
ok i installed it. will dvdshrink now burn a region free disc from a region 2 dvd when i normally have region 1 dvds?
Your drive can now read any disk with any region code. Either DVD Decrypter or DVD Shrink can remove the region coding from any DVD that you wish to backup. In other words, the backed-up disk will be region free.
i finished the back up. dvd plays on one of my dvd players and on the other does not. the dvd player displays "not ntsc" so there is still somthing there that is giving one of my players a hard time. any advise? by the way thanks for all of your help.
i need more help. i just put a region 1 dvd in my drive and it asked if i wanted to change the region again. so i dont think flashing the drive worked. its not allowing me to play all regions. i went back agian and reinstalled but that did not work either. maybe i did somthing wrong. what else can i do?
"not ntsc" sounds like a possible PAL-NTSC problem. NA region code (R1) will usually only be in NTSC format. Does your problematic SA player play both NTSC and PAL formats? Was the burned dvd a PAL or a ntsc disk? There's both a hardware and software counter for region code changes. You're probably getting the software "protector/counter" now since the hardware region counter has been removed. Download DVD Region Killer and install that. You can read how this stuff works here: http://forum.rpc1.org/viewtopic.php?t=239
my dvd player that plays it is a standard $50 player. it has the region 1 symbol on the back. the original dvd is a pal. im going to get dvd region killer now
Hey brockb, You could try AnyDVD. it removes the region coding & encryption from whatever DVD youre trying to play. Theres a download for it here at aD- http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_tools/anydvd.cfm you have to pay for the full version though, cant remember how much. well worth any money though, youll never have to change the region on your drive again!
For region killer go here: http://forum.rpc1.org/viewtopic.php?t=239 and click on dvd region killer (3rd line up from bottom). Or do as Big Pantz suggested.
You'll have to convert the PAL format dvd to NTSC format for a NTSC player to play the disk. avi2dvd in dvd mode (main movie only I think) possibly nerovision express 3 There should be a forum thread on this somewhere.
i just installed dvd killer seems to have worked. dvd shrink wont convert the pal to ntsc? i have nero express 6. im assuming that is not equivelent to verovison express 3
Nero express is part of the Nero 6 Ultimate Suite but Express is often bundled by itself with new burners. NVE 3 is part of the full suite and I'm not sure if it can convert or not. I don't use any PAL disks so I'm not going to be much help there. I know there are threads for PAL-NTSC conversion in these forums. Use the search box. There's a free trial for the Nero Ultimate Suite at www.nero.com.
