You need to flash your drive with firmware that will make your drive region free (i.e., read all region coded disks). Here's a link.

Your drive can now read any disk with any region code. Either DVD Decrypter or DVD Shrink can remove the region coding from any DVD that you wish to backup. In other words, the backed-up disk will be region free.

i need more help. i just put a region 1 dvd in my drive and it asked if i wanted to change the region again. so i dont think flashing the drive worked. its not allowing me to play all regions.

i went back agian and reinstalled but that did not work either. maybe i did somthing wrong. what else can i do?

"not ntsc" sounds like a possible PAL-NTSC problem. NA region code (R1) will usually only be in NTSC format. Does your problematic SA player play both NTSC and PAL formats? Was the burned dvd a PAL or a ntsc disk?

There's both a hardware and software counter for region code changes. You're probably getting the software "protector/counter" now since the hardware region counter has been removed. Download DVD Region Killer and install that. You can read how this stuff works here:

    Hey brockb,

You could try AnyDVD. it removes the region coding & encryption from whatever DVD youre trying to play.

Theres a download for it here at aD-

    http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_tools/anydvd.cfm

you have to pay for the full version though, cant remember how much.

well worth any money though, youll never have to change the region on your drive again!

You'll have to convert the PAL format dvd to NTSC format for a NTSC player to play the disk.

avi2dvd in dvd mode (main movie only I think)
    possibly nerovision express 3

There should be a forum thread on this somewhere.

Nero express is part of the Nero 6 Ultimate Suite but Express is often bundled by itself with new burners. NVE 3 is part of the full suite and I'm not sure if it can convert or not. I don't use any PAL disks so I'm not going to be much help there. I know there are threads for PAL-NTSC conversion in these forums. Use the search box. There's a free trial for the Nero Ultimate Suite at www.nero.com.
