Hello, thanks for helping. I had a v80 given to me brand new because it wouldn't work with his carrier. I received the phone and found that T-Mobile and Cingular supports it. T-Mobile has no service where I'm from but Cingular did. Lastnight I got the cingular service and was talking on the phone until I got just outside of my town and lost service. Apparently the towers are a bit outdated and dosen't support the bands in the V80. I heard theres a way you can flash the software to let it accept the 850 band. Is this true? Do you think there is still hope for me?

    Thanks alot!

it depends on whether or not the 850 band is offered in your area because the v80 only supports 900, 1800 and 1900. I believe there is a flex, but a lot of people have had problems enabling the seem which renders the phone unusable. It can be changed back though.

Check the technology window and see if its on quad-band. If it doesnt say that then you can edit a seem to make band 850 work or you can flash it. You should set the network setting(network menu) to automatic if its not already set to that

The network menu is set to auto and it does not list theh 850 that I need. I tried to edit the seem but nothing seems to happen. I press the key combinations like it said in one of the threads then I type in the seem thats supposed to enable the 850 band but it still dosen't work.
