I just installed a new motherboard. In order for my old hard drive to work, i have to do a clean install or a windows repair in order for the old hard drive to work under the new motherboard. The problem is that when i do the setup, the setup freezes when it is examining drives after i pressed ENTER to begin installation. I get the error of setup can not update partition on atapi...

So i tried installing Windows from my other computer and it worked perfectly?!? When i placed the old hard drive back to my old computer it doesn't work(blue screen). So i tried repair install again but once again is freezes when it examines the current drives or gives the setup partition error.

I also tried installing the windows files, and as it restarts, turn off the system. This way i could place the hard drive back to the old comp and the setup could continue. But the new motherboard recognizes the drive but doesn't continue the setup. It just says no OS system found. I won't try a clean install or repair because something is wrong with the old computer as i stated above.

I've already done a few formats. When i first did the repair it worked. But when i did a reboot the problem returned.

What else is there to do?
Thanks for taking the time to read the problem.
