Because your laser has to work harder to read the crappy dye making your drives lifespan shorter.

zergpro, i think he's referring to the actual media not the drive

Maybe I'll start a new thread. Nah, I'll just post my question here:

What is the cheapest media I can use to put 13-15 compressed ISOs onto a single CHEAP disc that's not a dual layer, and not even a DVD+/-R. I'll use CD-R, but ONLY if I can't use floppies.
    Please help.

But no really.... Any DL disk can and will work but the verbatims have a better chance of this due to the fact every disk is exactly alike. no two disks are exactly alike in any other brand unless they were made in the same factory but even then they are not always alike. so spend less on lower quality coasters or spend more and get alot better burns

here is a little math for you

1 Verbatims are roughly $2.00 each
2 Memorex are roughtly $1.00 each
3 TDK are roughly $1.00 each
4 Ritek are roughly $1.00 each
5 Innovera are roughly $1.00 each
6 Maxwell are roughly $0.50 each (or better 100 for $25.00)
7 Sony are roughly $1.00 each

So you may spend less but think about the numbers still.
A $60.00 game for $2.00 and not worry about how many disks it takes cause it will only take one.

    VS

$60.00 game for a POSSIBLE $1.00 but that depends on how many disks it takes to get it right. you may coaster 5+ disks before you get the right. also those disks scratch faster than the ice on a new skating ring does. Low quality disks means spending more money in the future.

Depends on where you live and if you plan on buying online. Also did it not say verbs are ROUGHLY $2 each...there is variation in every price no matter what product it is.

yea, but i can find them in 2 stores by be at 1.20 a disc. was just saying what i said to let people know that they should never buy verbs at 2 bucks. spend the 5 minutes researching prices and save yourself a ton of money.

well like i said depends on where you live and if you want the disks now or later. Like where i live (unless i drive 20+ extra miles) only one place sells them 20 for about $40 with gas now i don't feel like using an extra $5 or $10 to spend a few dollars less. the ratio is just not worth it. i said roughly 2ea because that is what i normally see them go for. i did find 100 stack for $150 (no tax) though and that was a good deal just did not have the cash for that

Well screw those over-priced Verbs. Who the hell in their right mind would pay 2 bucks for Modern Warfare 2. I'm going THIS route instead.

Memorex discs have ruined two of my drives. Verbs are the only way to go.

Verbs are suggested as we have said many many times but again ANY DL+ will work.

I Have a question. How do you know that verbs are exactly alike? I myself use Verbs and Memorex. I know for a fact the memorex is lower quality bc my lite-on dl burner will give me an error sometimes and it is a media error. Now this is only for DVD-R not DL disks. I have yet to get a dl coaster and have been burning for years. I currently own four 360s (I repair and sell them)and they all play the memorex disks fine. One Hitachi one Benq One 7xxx lite-on and a 9xxx lite-on. I started out with the Verbs but tried out several others bc of cost. Where I live a 20pk is around $50. I had two launch consoles which were both modded and one had the laser go out after years of playing. I believe this was due to age and nothing more. What are the real alternatives to buying Verbs. Is there anything remotely close?

    Thanks Again

In reality no verbs are the highest media. The reason that all verbs are exactly alike is because the company has never been out-sourced. The owners are setting up factories in other places to give more jobs and produce more media to make prices as cheap as possible they use all the same "ingredients" in the same quantities in every location in no variation using the same machines. This being said every disk is exactly the same. As for the cost thats about $3 each for a verb where you live $3 is 1/20th the price of a new game so you tell me spend more on media and get more games for $50 or spend less on media and get more coasters in the end...that is ultimately your choice. I myself suffer and buy the more expensive Verbatims because they work and last alot longer vs say memorex.
