I found this player called GOM Player, and I thought it'd be nice to share the info. Apparently this player can play all sorts of movie files without having any codecs installed since the player already has codecs built-in. I first uninstalled my K-Lite codec pack and played movie files I have, and it played all my movie files. I guess it's kinda like VLC, except I like the look of GOM Player much better. Plus it's free. They claim it plays broken AVI files and files that are being downloaded as well.. haven't tested those yet. You can get it at www.gomplayer.com.

Is this as good as what you said? I'm using a dvd player called Cool DVD player and I havent found any flaws yet. Maybe you can get one copy and compare the two.
