I have several cdr's that were burned about three years ago on an
LG internal CD/DVD combo drive (HL-DT-ST CD RW GCE-8483B)--it came packaged with a Dell desktop.

They sound OK, but "they" say it's a good idea to check older cdr's every so often.
This LG writer doesn't support Nero/CD Speed. Is there any other way to check these discs? Thanks.

Check as in what way? The data quality of the diks or sound quality of tracks etc?

    Could you specify? :)

yes, I'm referring to error checking software. I rely on my ears for sound quality.

How necessary is it to check burns for errors anyway?

thanks for the links. I'll give them a try.
I have music files on the discs.
I was just wondering, in theory, how many times can you reburn an audio cdr before any degradation is noticeable?

Well...Every time you re-rip music from the cd it will deteriate in quality. So, in theory you can re-rip music from a cd to back it up and the qualtiy loss will not be so bad.
