Where i am located i can only get four different services of internet. Dial-up (Dont want that), Satellite (Dont want this either) Cable, and DSL. The only cable company is Time Warner. they advertise 5Mbs Download speed. But the DSL company (CenturyTel) Advertises 10Mbs download speed. both are for the same price. but i did't know how reliable DSL is. Can someone please give me their opinion on the matter. any help would be greatly appreciated.

From personal experience, I have only used dsl when I went to visit my brother (at&t) and wasn't impressed. I have had cable (time warner) for the past 6yrs. To me, IMHO I think cable is better than dsl, but it depends on your area too.

His, I believe was the top speed, but then again its been 3yrs. Cable also has a scale too, and I am paying for the top speed.

Top speed for dsl here is 10mbs. Cable is way faster here. I know one thing for sure, I can never go back to dial-up.

Oh, did time warner ask you the other questions?

When I ran the speed boost test, time warner was the second fastest average in my area, second to another cable company. Dsl's average was far below mine.

They usually ask, just before they start, if your comp will be next to your wall jack. If not, they may have to install another one. If you don't want them to, they can run cable to your comp, but you may lose signal strength.
