Choppy dvd playback

    Ive burned about 5 movies to dvd and for some reason theyre playing pretty choppy on my dvd player. I was using nero express. Avi to dvd. Im just curious to how i can prevent the choppiness. When i first got the dvd burner it gave me zero problems now its like one problem after another. any suggestions?

    benq dw1625 repackaged as I/O magic.

    Hi there,

    If you play the files on your PC, before you burn them, to they play file ?

    Playback issues are usually related to:

    Cheap Media Quality
    Burned too fast
    Burned too close to the end of the media !

    Use Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim media, and do not burn faster than 4x to prevent playback issues.

    Sounds like media issue to me, or either you're burning too fast. My top 3 choices of media are: (1) Taiyo Yuden (2) Verbatim "Advanced Azo" (3) Maxell (Hitachi - made in japan).

    it turns out its hardware related. I have a crappy i/o magic IDVD16DLS (which in fact is actually a benq dw1625 repackaged!!). Its doesnt respond anymore.(it wont even eject) Their customer service is crap, and i cant return it back to staples because of their stupid 14 day return policy.so im pretty much screwed.


    btw DONT BUY ANY I/O Magic burners.

    I thought every manufacture has a 1 year warranty?

    im not sure. but do you need every single documentation that came with the drive in order to send it out for another one?(like the box, reciept, etc)

    The only thing i have is the drive itself and the quick install guide it came with.(pretty much everything except for the reciept itself)

    I'm not sure about the box (not necessary, but it's nice to have for burner's brand & model, plus manufacture's "support 1-800 numbers). You'll need to provide a valid proof of receipt that you bought it at Staples. If your burner is only like 3 - 6 months old, then I would definitely call I/O Magic or BenQ up and tell them that the drive won't burn anything at all. Hopefully, they'll give you a RMA #(or something like that). Then you'll have to send it back to them, and they'll give you a new one.
