Ok, I have a 3.2 P4 with an 80 gig hd and a 768mb of RAM (laptop). My desktop has an Xvid file on it (a personal backup) that I am trying to watch on my notebook. I start it in Windows Media Player 9 and it is all there, but the playback is choppy. Now, if I let it play choppy and then start it over, it plays through fine. In other words after one horrible playback, it works fine. However I don't have an hour and a half to let it play once before watching it. I tried Zoom Player and same thing. It has to be something minor and stupid because after monkeying with it, it looks GREAT, but it is just getting to that point. Do I need more ram or something? My NVidia graphics card has 64mb of dedicated RAM. DVDS, SVCDS and VCDS play fine, but I am new to the Xvid format. Thanks in advance.
It doesn't seem to matter. I have copied it to my desktop on my laptop and still is choppy. If I play a section of it through and then replay it, it is superb but I cannot get it to play properly. I have downloaded the latest Xvid codec and tried multiple players. No dice. I am lost.
