A new Chorus fix 19/04/08 has been released today by Sunrise. There has also been a new official file released today that works for NTL & Chorus.

I would rather use the official software myself but I thought that the Sunrise fix was the only available software working for Chorus.

hi im just wondering how can tell if the software really works , ive just up dated my box, do u have to wait for chorus to change the codes

 

Johnny is it just me but can you not get BBC or ITV with the EUROVox with Chorus in Limerick? Something I am doing wrong?

 

Yes this works for Ntl and chorus. Anyone who puts the unofficial sunrise software on their box will not have their box repaired by an official dealer.
In other words use this software if you wish, watch it go pop but don't go crying back to the person you bought it off as they won't want to know.

 

You could change the codes manually,language settings,1968 twice and they will update.

BTW Why do you think that the Sunrise fix will brick the Eurovox's ? Just because it is not official firmware does not mean it will brick the boxes. Sunrise is a well known & respected programmer whose software for different boxes has been used by a lot of people with no problems. It's a sad state of affairs when a hacker as you call him can have a fix available quicker than the official software. Just to let you know Sunrise wrote the AU fix for the Eurovox 1 & 2 when there has been no official fix released yet. It seems that the suppliers are only interested in releasing fixes for their new boxes. Any comments ?

 

Sunrise also released a fix for the Starview Clones & the 2006 Eurovox (Blue Box) Clones. Without his fixes a lot of people would be left with bricked boxes. So I dont think you should be saying his software will brick the Eurovox V boxes. What proof do you have ?

 

2 weeks ago the official software was released but it didn't work on Chorus. This particular fix was ready on Thursday but it needed to be thoroughly checked before final release as they didn't want to release something again with problems.
Do you remember what happened last year when Eurovox boxes started breaking down with the Dnupman program. That is why the Ufl loader was introduced with the software built into it.

 

I really don't mind what software you use. All I'm saying is there is official and unofficial software, I know which one I'd prefer to use. Official dealers won't honour the guarantee if unofficial software is put on the box.

 

The UFL loader is a DnUpMan loader with the firmware built in. The problems arose last year with people using different loaders such as voxer etc.. Sunrise provides a DnUpMan loader and full directions with his fix so I cant see any problem. I would rather use the official software myself if I had a choice but if there was no official firmware available & there was a Sunrise fix available which is the case with a lot of different boxes I would have no problem using it. As reguards official dealers not honouring the guarantee if unofficial software is put on the box, how would they know what software is on the box if it is bricked ? They would have to jtag the box anyway. I really think that the distributors should release new Chorus firmware for all of their boxes including the Eurovox 1 & 2.

 

An official dealer will put on official software. If a box comes back to him he will know whether he himself or she herself(not forgetting the ladies)put on the software. If someone puts on software himself/herself even if it is official software the dealer can refuse to honour the guarantee.

 

So why do some official dealers supply RS-232 cables with their boxes for people to update the softare themselfs ? I wonder do they tell people that if they use these cables to update the software the boxes are no longer covered by guarantee even though they supplied the cables. Seems a bit stupid to me.

 

Have you any comment on Eurovox suppliers not suppling software for their own boxes eg.. Eurovox 1 & 2. They leave it to so called hackers such as Sunrise to provide support for their boxes. Without this support the boxes would be useless and the people would have to upgrade to new Eurovox boxes. Or is this the whole point ?

 

In general dealers will honour guarantees. But we are in different waters here. This is the first time I have seen unofficial software. I know if I were a dealer and i was getting higher than normal returns from a particular customer there would only be 1 conclusion I could come to.
dealers would advise their customers which software to use so in practice there should be no problem.
