chosing the right software download?

    hi people,
    I've got a quick question to ask you cause something is troubleing me.

    Often when i'm about to download something i get asked which distrubution i want to download.

    it's got links to downloads like:Windows (x86), Windows (x86_64 AMD64).

    My question is: what does this mean?all this x86...

    and which do i chose?

    it depends what you are getting. give me an example of the software that software would be.

    all i'm asking is what does x86 and x 86 amd64 mean?

    x86 refers to a computer with an intel processor and a 32-bit Windows operating system.

    x86-64 AMD refers to a computer with an AMD processor and a 64-bit Windows operating system.
