otherwise email the company u got it from and see if they can help or replace it.

since it wont boot without the chip it sounds like the onboard eeprom is gone. i just fixed an xbox last week that had the same problem, red flashing around eject button and no video at all. i followed these instructions and fixed it http://www.llamma.com/xbox/Repairs/eeprom_fix.htm

Maybe the drive is unlocked and the bios has gone astray?? or someone didn't put the ms dash back on..I don't usually unless I'm asked to...(or it's for a noob..no offence, we were all noobs once!!)
Check that the chip is really secure in the pinheader..the 2.6 is a bit touchy about this..make sure that nothing is pressing down on the free end of the chip, that causes this fault
xecuter 2.6..boot by holding both power and eject in for 3 or so seconds should bring up a flash bios screen..or is that the X3...
There is a switch (one on the bank of 3)labelled underneath "flash enable" or something similar..try that in the on position first before panicking and attacking the eeprom..and double check ALL the wiring..then check it again..in particular the d0 connection to the lpc rebuild plastic thing (I prefer to use a real piece of wire)

    Greets from llama world....

it's really easy, i did it exactly as that page says. the only thing that page wasn't clear on is when it's talking about this part - [bold]addEeprom cromwell-patched.bin eeprom.bin[/bold] you have to do it in DOS. just put the cromwell bin and your eeprom in the C: root directory and go to a DOS promy and put addEeprom cromwell-patched.bin eeprom.bin, then you'll see it say "patching comlete" or something similar.

you'll have to explain what exactly it is that you "aren't getting" so we can narrow it down.

ok do just what i said above, place all the files and your eeprom backup in the root (C:), then open a DOS prompt and put addEeprom cromwell-patched.bin eeprom.bin and you should get a thing saying it did it.
