    Numerous failed attempts with AnyDVD v 6.4.0.0, DVDShrink, DVD Decrypter, DVD Fab Platinum 4 and Ripit4me. I finally got it to go with the newest DVDFab HD Decrypter. I ripped the movie only and used DVD Shrink to burn it.

    I tried the latest version 6.4.9.0 which was just released yesterday. It's still freezing. But I have come to the conclusion that it's the disc because I inserted Step Brothers and it's not freezing. But I was able to back up using DVDFab Platinum. So I don't know why the disc was causing AnyDVD to freeze. Also how come when I use DVDFab Platinum with the DVD5 settings it shrinks the file down to 4.19 GB instead of the usual 4.35 or 4.36GB

    richmoral,
    You probably need to change your output in that program to 4350 or 4400 to make the size of the DVD 4.32. I do not use DVDFAB Plat as I use DVD-Rebuilder. I do know that the DVD using AnyDVD can take as Long as 10 minutes to analyze the DVD (per Slysoft's forum) and that depends on your syatem. On my system it took about 15 seconds but I am using a Quad-core

    I have the same problem...
    When you insert a dvd, everything looks fine. But when I'm trying to open AnyDVD, the disk ejects(!!!!!) and AnyDVD becomes frozen. It seems like AnyDVD could NOT handle it.
    And I used both drives :)

    No I only have the 1 drive. I normally would just go try it on my Macbook but I let it to a cousin of mine.

    OK then I guess it was just that one DVD. Only time I've had it freeze up on me like that. It's ok I got it done just using DVDPlatinum instead.

    Prince Caspian appears to use the same protection as Wall-E. If you use DVDFab 4.1.2.0 to decode and DVDFab 5.1.2.2 to rip, you shouldn't have any problems. I used a DVD9 so as not to sacrifice quality, but I'm a little disappointed with the transfer. I watch my movies on a 37" Toshiba HDTV using an OPPO DV-980H DVD player connected via HDMI, but the film upon preview looks grainy compared to some others. Just my two cents for ya'll.

    try DVD Rebuilder burning to a dvd-5 instead of using a dvd-9 and see if you get the same result ^^

    @richmoral

    Enable newest version of AnyDVD 6490 and let it read the disc. There is a lot of crap on the disc. You're pc is probably not locking up, some discs just take longer for anydvd to read (especially if you have an older slow drive) - give it at least 2 or 3 minutes. PC was not hard. I did movie only.

    Great minds think alike. Yep, that's me... DVD-Rebuilder Pro + CCE SP2 and or Recode 3 (Advanced Analysis + High Quality + Assign Best Quality to Main Movie" and I'll be enjoying my backups on my 51" SONY HDTV.

    yeah i see no reason to spend 1.70 per blank disc for a dvd-9 when you can use DVD Rebuilder and spend 23 cent each per blank disc for a dvd-5. and doing the movie only most the time you don't even need DVD Rebuilder. the only time i use a blank dvd-9 is to backup Concert DVDs

    I do use DL discs, but only for movies that are a 10 in my enjoyment. I bet I haven't burnt 30 DLs in 3 years, but I can.

    I'm also not one much for DL burning. Dvd Rebuilder works wonders for high compression situations. I'll stick with that.
