Hmmm, maybe not a bad idea for some of you guys... I know I'm not gonna do it! I don't know why anyone would do this, I mean you're not really losing anything. You have very nice SD upconverter and it will also play all the 500+ HD DVD's out there, including imports. I'm going to stick with my player and maybe get one of these new Panasonic DMP-BD50 players when they drop - if they aren't rediculisly priced!
I guess that is a good idea for people who feel cheated by HDDVD. I personally do not. Also I do not see why Circuit City would do it. I mean what is the upside for them? Makes me Wonder?
I was one of the unfortunate HD-DVD owners since 11/07. I did purchase my HD-DVD from circuit city but my return time was way over and i already have a good collection. So i decided to try to return it anyways and upgrade. I took it in and talked to the return department and explained to them what i wanted to do. Talked to the manager and walla - Return accepted even after 4 months. How so? Well i had to spend a bit more money. I simply told them i wanted The LG-BH200 Super Blue Combo player with a 5 year protection plan. and i was hooked up - now i can enjoy all the blue-ray and all the cheaper current HD-DVD's. Yay Iam so happy. Now to hunt down all those sales for HD-DVD on older titles and buy new titles on blue-ray. So I guess it doesn't hurt to try to return and upgrade. I recommend you guys do the same if your an HD-DVD owner and go for the LG-BH200. Only downside - you will need to upgrade the firmware for it as soon as you get it. but no biggie.
