Well its a classic story, I just put my mobo in a new case, all the pins should be in right according to the manual, but everytime I start it up, I get a long beep for about a whole 2 seconds, then about 2 seconds of silence, then another 2 second beep, I disconnected everything but the vid card and RAM, also I reseated those, just wondering if anyone has anything.
Try taking the m/b back out of the case, and see if you can get it to start up...might be a ground issue with the new case. B.W.
ok, I put the mobo back in the case it use to be in, samething, all the pins should be correct, no HD or CD drives powered on, just AGP and DDR still, 2 second beep, 2 second silence, 2 second beep
Are you using the old power supply or the new one? How many memory sticks are inserted in the dimm. slots?
im using everything on the motherboard that use to work on it, same power supply, only on stick of 512 corsair DDR RAM the mobo is ESC elitegroup I don't know what make of BIOS, how do I check? and everything does power up, like the fans and stuff, just the monitor doesn't post and the beep continues
If you don't want to install and run Sisoft Sandra, you can use this simple utility: http://www.unicore.com/biosagent/index.cfm
ok, I tried a new stick of ram, same problem, im beggining to think it has something to do with maybe the pins, but Im positive I put them in right.
Double check all connections then check them all again. If it worked before it will work again...providing you did'nt damage the board.
mobo ECS Elitegroup Socket 755-A2 SiS 755 K8 HT 1600 ISO-9001 ISO-14001 H91200E43504190 then there is this number that might be it 4137203
These boards use Award Bios which are not very helpful when it comes to beep codes. A series of long beeps might indicate a problem with the CPU fan - try a replacement if you can. Also make sure that the old PSU you have re-used has the extra 4-way square connector to supply 12v near the processor. BTW, what is the wattage of the PSU - it might not pack enough punch for the new board, I would use at least a 400w for this type of board.
ok I still havn't fixed it yet, but thanks for all the help so far, Im using an ATX 420 watt power supply, and it has the 12v support, so I don't beleive power is an issue
well I just noticed that when I seat the ram in the slot closest to the CPU, it seemes a little jiggly, like it is loose, that might be what the problem is, but I don't know what to do about it
according to the link i posted, 1long 2short beeps is videocard. try another videocard even a pci card. also reseat the videocard again just in case not seated all the way in.
its not really 1 long 2 short, its more 1 long, continuouse, like the one just above the one you looked at, but it won't hurt to try.
