Did you change anything with your blank media?

Example: Switched brand names, switched formats,or switched to a different spindle/pack.

Look at the bottom of one of those 1/2 burned coasters very carefully and see if you see any defects.

What is the brand name, speed rate, and format of your blank media?

    How fast you burning?

What's the exact brand and model# of this backpack burner?

What's the current firmware version of this burner?

What programs are you using to burn?

What's the MID code of the media that burned ok,and the media that is erroring out?

Here's a free program that will give you most of the answers to those questions:

    http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd-r_tools/dvd_identifier.cfm

A lot of things can cause this:

    Bad media
Bad batch-try some discs on the bottom of the spindle.
    Burned too fast
    errors with your burning software
Firmware may need updated on your burner
    Burner may need cleaned.
    Burner may be dying.

My advice for cleaning drives-eject the tray and spray some compressed air in them. Use the hard cleaning disc as a last resort.
