I have had both Clone dvd and Any dvd for some time now. Mostly, it works just fine. I cannot get it to copy 3 movies. 1. Olsen Twins:Challenge, Pokemon:First Movie and 3. Superman. They all have the 'copy protected error'. I am running the latest update v. 6.0.4.2. Any help? Also, what is the 'redundancy error' that I sometimes get when copying? I appreciate ANY help as I am the newest of the newbies! Please excuse my ignorance on most of this!

You should not be having a problem with these movies as they are old and have no fancy protection on them. If you are getting a CRC error with Clone it is more than likely a dirty or damaged disk try cleaning it or get another original. I have not found a movie that cannot be done with AnyDVD other than if it is some new protection that has just come out, and in that case slysoft will update within days of the problem. Try the free progam DVDFab Decrypter and rip to your HDD and then open Clone and backup, see if it works.

Thanks arniebear. I tried the DVDFab decrypter and kept getting error 4096. The dvd's won't even rip to the hard drive. They do play perfectly so we can definitely watch the movies. I then went back to Anydvd after cleaning the dvds. Now I get the error of :Region locked. RPC2 drive is locked. it lists some drives that have that problem but mine is not listed. they recommend RPC1 patched firmware at rpc1.com and I went there but that is WAAAAAAAAY out of my league and over my head. Of course, these are the 3 movies that my kids really like and I need backups really bad! My dvd rom drive is a NEC DVD+RW ND-1100A 10FD, if that helps. Also, when I put in the MaryKate and Ashley Movie, AnyDvd reads:

Summary for drive E: (AnyDVD 6.0.4.2)
    Drive (Hardware) Region: 1

    Media is a Data DVD.
    Booktype: dvd-rom (version 1), Layers: 1
Total size: 2277402 sectors (4448 MBytes)

Video DVD (or CD) label: THE_CHALLENGE
    Media is CSS protected!
    Video Standard: NTSC
    Media is locked to region(s): 1 4!

Your firmware is out of date, looks like this is a Dell drive. Current for this burner is 10GE. Go here and flash the burner with newer firmware, or check at the Dell site and plug your service tag in and get the newest from them. My son-in-law has this drive and was having problems with it also. This is an old drive and probably is developing some age problems.

To see if you can update to RPC1,Region free, go to the Binflash address in my signature and the go to firmware updates for NEC. I downloaded a firmware from there and now I don't have to worry about Region codes.

Sometimes you're the windshield and sometimes you're the BUG! Today I feel like the BUG!
I flashed my firmware from Dell. Still tells me the dvd's are copy protected. the display I get is now:
Summary for drive E: (AnyDVD 6.0.4.5)
    Drive (Hardware) Region: 1

    Media is a Data DVD.
    Booktype: dvd-rom (version 1), Layers: 1
Total size: 1898624 sectors (3708 MBytes)

I even got the latest (minutes ago) update for AnyDVD.

Even tho I still have my original problem, I REALLY APPRECIATE EVERYONE'S HELP!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!

Have you tried the older program DVD Decrypter, you should really not being having such a problem with these disks unless they are another region then the one you are in. Try and see if DVD Decrypter will rip these, or you can also try it with RipIt4Me. If that doesn't do it nothing will. Guide and software here you can also dl DVDD from the link
