Well I decided to post after several months of frustration with Clone DVD 2. I had posted in this forum when I was using Clone DVD2 on trial before I purchased it and had issues with it, and then I thought that they were resolved and so I purchased the product.
After the purchase the fix of the problem was only temporary as it turned out and now I seemingly have another issue although the 2 problems maybe related.

First, i wanted to say that i have printed out the tutorial and gone through it word by word several times and as well had my inhouse tech at the office take my computer home and give Clone DVD a try with several purchased DVD's and using Any DVD as well and he has the same problems occur.

In my original post which was during my trial period of Clone DVD2 the program would work inconsistently.

First, before I try to create a backup I check to see if "My Computer" recognizes that I have a disc in my external drive and it does. This is before I do any attempt at using Clone DVD and Any DVD and open and play the dvd in "My Computer." And there is no problem.

From the Tutorial I choose the first selection in Clone DVD 2, and then move onto the "DVD Titles" window where the information in the Window is present as is shown in the Tutorial.

It is at this point that I always know when I will have a problem wiht Clone DVD even though the Video_TS is shown and I can even see it in the preview. How I know that there will be a problem is that the "Quality" area at the bottom of the Window where the "Compressometer" should be showing green, yellow or red and a % figure, nothing is there as the whole area is greyed out, there is NO information. In spite of the fact that I watch the Source DVD in Preview.
I click on the next steps per the Tutorial, as did our office techie and what occurs after you make your selection for DVD Writer and I have my burner highlighted and I click on "Go" is that I get to the next Window and hear the "Oh No" and get the message:
    C:\Program Files\Elaborate Bytes\Clone DVD2\eraser\PAL\VIDEO\_TS\TSWTS_01_OIFO unable to open file.
The systen can't find the file specified. Please be sure that all required files are available and try again.
When I click on "Details" in this same Window I get:
    File 0 C:\Program Files\Elaborate Bytes\CloneDVD2\eraser\PAL\VIDEO_TSWTS_01_O.IFO 2 TCE
And this is for a purchased DVD as my source DVD that I want to back up and I am using Any DVD as well with Clone DVD per the Tutorial.

I have checked in the "About" section of Clone DVD and both programs are registered in my name.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled and the same problem happens.
    I have tried installing over top of the program and this still happens. ( have a copy of my key}

When I do a Registry check I get this message:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\Windows\Current Version\App Paths\Clone DVD2.exe
When I click on to fix this then the problem with Clone DVD2 goes away and I do my backups and the next day if I go to do more backups I either have to do a Registry check and see the above error and correct it OR I can correct it by downloading the Clone DVD2 exe. over top of the existing one and it will correct the problem as well. I don't understand what this is all about, as I am a Noob to burning as was evident in my prior posts.

But right from the beginning when this program was on trial there was a problem, however because I thought I corrected it permanently as I did not try it again after I did the registry fix, I decided to purchase it and there is obviously an issue which is clearly above my head.
    I would appreciate comments, thankyou.

I know that my burner is working as I have used DVD Shrink and Any DVD and had no problems.
And I purchased this Clone DVD so that I could do my backups in a more straight forward way for a Noob like me and the program sounds great to use except for me.

I have a Toshiba, Pent 4, 512 RAM, 1.9 ghz, and BENQ External Burner 162I, 16X, Dual Layer and I consulted with BenQ phone support regarding the media the unit supports and use it, I have up to date firmware and the BenQ works fine with other burning software, I simply want it to be able to use Clone DVD2.

I hope someone has ideas on what could be occurring here. My notebook is free of viruses, malware. Our office Tech is responsible to check to insure we are doing our updating and scans.

And again I mention that both programs Clone and Any DVD are registered to me and that my source is a purchased DVD that I am trying to back up and they are less than 4.75 in size.

I don't understand this "eraser\PAL" error nor the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" error that refers to "App Paths."

Could there have been something wrong with this program from the onset of the Trial D/L and then it just keeps perpetuating itself???
I look forward to experienced comments, thankyou.
I put all the details in as when I read problem posts, I always note that there are requests for more information, so I hope that i have not left anything out.

    Respectfully

Have you updated CloneDVD2 to the latest version?

If all else fails you could dump CDvd2 and use a windows registry cleaner and then reinstall.

I have the program and am not having any issues at all with it.

I always fire up AnyDVD and let it load before I put a DVD into the player/recorder. This removes the encryption before I ever start to do anything else.

I am sure others will respond shortly.

    good luck

Thx for the reply, the version of Clone DVD that I have installed is 2.8.5.1

Also when I start to try to create a backup I click on my Any DVD icon on my Desktop and the fox head icon then appears on the right of the task bar down near the "time" and the information of Any DVD appears and I click OK.
Then I load my source disc to my external burner and the Any dvd information again flashes onto the Window showing the Region etc. and I click OK and then I hover the cursor over the fox head icon in the task bar to insure it is working.
I do notice that to the left in the task bar the fox head remains saying "information" and I presumed that to be normal???

I wanted to mention here also that I have tried to use the Clone DVD in my Internal Burner as well and of course changing the Video_TS to the appropriate drive where the source disc is, however I get the same results as described in my original post.

    Respectfully,

i have done a reg clean and new reinstall of Clone DVD2. Attempting again at a fresh start.
And then i did a reboot.
After the D/L there is a box for details and i clicked on it and got this:

    1. Output dir c:\WINDOWS\System 32
    2. Extract:Elby CDIO.dll
    3. Output dir c:\WINDOWS\System 32\drivers
    4. Extract : Elby CDIO.sys.
    5. Output directory c:\PF\Elaborate Bytes\Clone DVD2
    6.Extract: Elby Delay Sys
    7.Create Shortcut c:\Documents and settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Elaborate Bytes
    8. Reads the same as #7
    9. Reads the same as #7
    10. Create Shortcut c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop\Clone DVD2\In and I could not read the entire "In" and there was no slider bar to allow me to do so.
As as result I am no sure what that entry was,

I was wondering if anyone is familiar with this "Details" and would know if the entire Clone DVD was downloaded or maybe this is my ongoing problem.
As I mentioned there has been an issue right from the time I tried out the program on trial and I thought that I fixed it so I bought it as it is user friendly for a Noob like me who is basically only cloning a dvd that will fit on a 4.7

After I finished this D/LI clicked on Close and did a Reboot and now I hope that this will work, though I have done the same process before.

My previous experience that indicated to me that the program would not work acted like this:
When I open the program which says "Welcome to "Clone DVD" and go to the next Window and select the first option of "copy dvd titles" and i look at the right of the window that has the Compressometer which has the Quality Bar....... that whole area is "greyed in" and I can't do anything with it and I don't believe one really is supposed to as it automatically advises of the compression.
When it is in this greyed out state and there is no meter colors of green, orange and red and there is no percent of compression that is taking place then i know that i will hear "oh no" even though I am watching the preview. The program starts and then stops and gives the message described in my original thread.

I have tried many times using the guide at:
http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/guides.htm and chosen the first option of the proggy "B/U your DVD with Clone DVD and Any DVD"
Our In house tech has taken my notebook home as well and tried it and it won't work consistently for him either. (only when you do a reg clean)
That is why I thought that I would post what is in the "Details" of the D/L of the Clone DVD this time in case an experienced user, Mod/Admin may see something that is not correct in there.
The trial of the program never worked consistently and then as I mentioned I thought that I fixed the issue, however it was only temporary and now there is another issue that I noted in my first thread and perhaps they are related.
I look forward to any ideas.

    Regards

It sounds like the install is incomplete. I would try a new download, then clean the old version out as you did before and reinstall. I always download off this sites download section and never have a problem. I'm using the same version of Clone as you have with Anydvd 5441. Make sure you use a Reg Cleaner before the new install like Reg Supreme to clean out all the old left overs. Also open your C drive in Windows Explorer and delete any folder or files named Elby or Elaborate Bytes.
