    Hello,

I downloaded the trial version of CloneDVD2 and liked it very much. So I decided to try the CloneCD to see if it would be worthwhile to buy the 2 softwares together.
I used CloneCD (latest version) to backup my CD game since the original has been used a lot (Heroes of the Pacific) and I want to protect it. Everything goes fine and the software completes the copy without a problem. However, when I try to use the copy, I receive a message saying "Unable to authenticate CD".
Anybody knows what is going on?

I hoped I could use the software alone without going through all the steps described on am message from 2003.

    Thanks

Heroes of the Pacific is copy protected by Securom 7.XX. This message is the protection of the game trying to read the topographical serial number on the disc.

Since, CloneCD cannot reproduce this type of protection you get the error message of authentication.

Here's a nice little guide using Alcohol 120%, which claims it can back-up this protection with a little emulation.

Some burners are more capable than others at back-ups, but give it a try anyways.
