I am using a Sony DVD RW-DRU 800A and a TSSTcorp CD/DVDW SH-W162Z. I am using HP invent DVD-R 16x and Memorex DVD+R 16x blank media. I was using a new HP lightscribe drive that was recently and removed it after trying to isolate numerous problems. I was able to copy DVD's using both drives (one for the original disc) and the other drive to make a backup copy of the disc using either DVD Decrypter and Nero Recode or most recently Slysoft AnyDVD used with CloneDVD. Now I am receiving errors and unable to burn the copies of the DVD's I own. I am receiving a "Cyclic Redundancy Error" when using AnyDVD/CloneDVD. I am getting this error with a brand new original DVD and a brand new blank media disc. I have tried several discs and get the same message. While trying to isolate the issue I opened "My Computer" and took a look to try some trouble shooting and now it displays what should be my two DVD drives as CD Drives! What's happened and how do I fix this? I have tried to replace the HP Lightscribe drive, update my firmware, and following the troubleshooting available on my computer. I'm stuck! Please help - anyone. I am game to try anything. At this point, I am considering purchasing a new computer if I cannot get this sorted out. Please feel free to email me at Gina@AnsweringInnovationsInc.com or through this website.
@ Splus12: the error you are experiencing relates to poor media or dirty or scratched media as well.I see this might be part of your problem memorex only works for a small % of people , you seem to be one of the many it wont work for.You may consider trying to see if you change your media to something like ritek, or sony and also clean your discs .Also look for minute scratches as these also are hard to see
I think it's probably your burner. Can you run any movie in the drive? Mine would recognize data DVD's but not movies, it just thought there was nothing in the drive and was waiting for a CD. When mine went to the point of not recognizing any DVD in the drive, I had to replace it. (for free I might add at futureshop.
Habve you attempted to RIP the DVD directly to your hard drive first ? I have avoided disk to disk copy due to problems that may occur with this process.
Just had the same error. Use DVD Decrypter in IFO mode to rip it to your drive. Then CovertX to DVD then Burn with shrink in reauthor to remove the VSO menu screen. I ran into this with the Constant Gardener movie. Try it.
