    I have an HP computer and I am running WindowsXP Home. I'm able to get AnyDVD to work perfectly and when I go to make a copy with CloneDVD it works great ripping and burning the movie, but the final step when it adds the buffer or border, I can't remember right now, my entire computer will freeze up and I can't even get the program to quit from the Task Manager.

    Any possible tips or reasons why this may be happening?

    if all else fails, try using another application of the same purpose and see whether the same thing happens or not...

    My version contains it own burner. I burn with it all the time, it does the complete process.

    No, my CloneDVD burns DVDs as well. However, I tried it a second time and it froze my computer again at the same spot when it created the borders or buffers. The disc turns out fine and I have the entire movie it just worries me that something will go wrong with my computer if I keep having to hold the reset button to get the computer to unlock. I can't even CNTRL ALT DEL the program to close. I downloaded CloneDVD on Sunday so I would assume that I have the most recent version. I'm still using the trial version if that could possible make a difference.

    My CloneDVD has burned over 500DVDs, no problems yet, are you using an older version? the current one is 2.8.5.1, have been using AnyDVD now for about 6 months, again no problem whatsoever.

    CloneDVD 2 HAS a Burning application of it's own built in. I have it & AnyDVD. I have NEVER had anything but Excellent Results from it. I don't know why, and have never heard of CloneDVD 2 freezing. Weird.
    As a Matter Of Fact, CloneDVD 2 has backed up DVDs that froze Nero Recode up completely. I frankly don't know enough info now to answer why CloneDVD 2 is freezing up. I suspect there is another application on the HP PC that is causing this. Perhaps even not enough physical Memory (RAM.) Maybe even poor quality media. Try Verbatim or Made in Japan Fuji or Sony media. Otherwise re-install the program.

    If the disc completes, but the system is locking up, that could be a problem with the PC. Without specs it's hard to develop any thoughts on that. All we know is that you have an HP PC, little else. Model and specs would have been nice plus available system resources. Usually, the easiest way to check if the problem is a particular app is to use another. Try using a trial of DVDCopy4 from InterVideo to see if you get the same problem with it. http://www.InterVideo.com/ It's full function, it's good for 2 weeks. Check back and let us know what happens. If you're still having problems, include your PC info in the next post.

    My CloneDVD burns and alway has, it utilizes its own burning engine.

    @calsurf79

    If your burn is failing at the end then there is something going on with your comp. As brobear states we need to know more about your specs, also what kind of media are you using and how fast are you burning?

    LOL I think Andmerr got the word some time ago, CloneDVD2 incorporates its own burning software. I suspect he had one of those brain farts like the ones I have on occasion, think about one app and write about another. This isn't a "you got it wrong Andmerr" thread. Guess it gives everybody something to comment on while waiting for calsurf79 to reply though. ;)

    I admitted to the occasional error. Don't tell anyone. So you're not alone. How do they say that, the guy that hasn't made a blunder, toss the first bolder?

    LOL And I thought I was taking up for you. LOL Okay everyone, hammer Andmerr. Now where did I put that old blunderbuss, I use it for shooting blunderbusses (blunderers). LOL Couldn't resist the bad "shoot 'em" joke. LOL Have a good evening and Happy Holidays.

    Guess we've lost calsurf.
