Using CloneDVD to back up my DVD's, it usually takes the program over 4 hours to back up a dvd onto my hard drive as an AVI

Does it normally take that long for everyone or do I have my settings wrong in the program?

    thanks

Sounds to me like your DMA is off. To turn it back on here's a mini guide...by Binkie7.

    http://www.burningbits.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2986&highlight=

Follow the "guide" and post back if anything/everything is ok....or not.

EDIT: Edited out comment (funny at the time) about butts. I shouldn't drink and drive a mouse at the same time. Oh my aching head. Sorry Binkie. :p

Checked both primary and secondary and both are already set at DMA if available

    Any other suggestions?

I am assuming because you answered that my CloneDVD isnt working as others do?

I know from experience that certain animated movies can take an extraordinary amount of time. My youngest sons spiderman collection took an absolute age. Why yours is taking 4hrs...has me stumped, the settings are almost too simple to stuff up. Have you tried contacting their support? Perhaps other members will chime in and lend a hand here.

Lastly, I couldn't for the life of me get clone to make an AVI file. It seems I may have a setting hidden away somewhere...lol.

AVI is the top choice in my menu for selecting output type

    As for settings:

The CloneDVD has the following formats to choose from

    AVI
    ASF
    MP4(Apple)
    3GP
    MP4(Sony)
    -------------------------
also, you can chose the "Copy as" to copy to

    DVD
    DVD Image (ISO)
    Movie File
    -------------------------
I have selected Output Type as High Quality (720x480)

    I am using CloneDVD V4.0

Do you have to use ANYDVD with it?

Are these settings not on your version of CloneDVD?

I notice that there are two programs calling themselves
    CLONEDVD

One is a slysoft product (Slysoft.com and Clonedvd.net)

Whats the difference between the two products?

Has slysoft sold the program to someone else?

Neither of those Links have anything to do with the product I asked about

    CloneDVD WWW.CLONEDVD.NET

In fact they both look like Elby products

That link is created by Afterdawn and it links only to the Slysoft product

I am wondering about the other Clonedvd product

Something must have gone seriously wrong with my isp mail handler. I got hardly any replys, so apologies for not getting back sooner.
I bought my clone dvd2 (Elby) license years ago and seldom use the darn thing, so I was thrown for a six with the .avi output feature. At least that one's cleared up.

    WWW.CLONEDVD.NET.. wouldn't know. sorry.

    All praise Slysoft.. :)
