Hi, I've been using CloneDVD for a few months and I have a question: how can one pre-determine how to split content between two DVD+Rs? That is, I know that some DVDs will require 2 DVD+Rs, but how do I (other than guessing) determining what chapters/files to place on disk 1 vs. disk 2? I've looked at the screens and the OLH and I'm clueless. TIA, ---JC
You can either use the scissors and split at the midpoint of the disk, preserving menu on both. Or you can uncheck the boxes of what you do not want on the disk. All you have to do is highlight what you want to preview and hit play on the preview screen and decide if you want it or not. Clone does not decide for you. OK, that's great, but how does one -determine- the 'midpoint'? A typical DVD might have one file with 'the movie' on it, but then 15 others which appear to be previews, documentaries, etc. I guess I was hoping that there would be a 'space counter' somewhere which would indicate how much disk space the selected chapters would cover. ---JC
When you use the scissors you can see the time counter in the corner of the preview screen as you slide the slider bar. A DVD5 disk only has two hours of video on it. Determine how long your vid is and divide it up how you want it.
CloneDVD's scisors function allows you to cut by chapter...Use the right click button on the scissors and help will appear, or read bbmayo's manual.....
OK, obviously this is a feature request... To me, it would be -very- helpful if there was some way to automate which chapters to include for Disk #1 vs. Disk #2 as DVDXCopy did (yeah, CloneDVD is way better overall.) Or at least, have some sort of indicator in the 'Summary' page of the total time to record before one presses 'Go'. ---JC
I split very few movies but I find it very easy to determine which chapters to include on which disc, i.e., where to cut....but, to each their own. BTW, you can still use your outdated DVDXCopy if you run AnyDVD in the background....
I have Clone to split TV series disks and a few movie disks and have had no problems choosing either. I have XCopy and use it rarely, I find Clone is easier.
I'm about to try splitting my first disc with ClondeDVD2. I don't understand what your problem is. Are you wanting to split it exactly in two or what?
yeah your right j0jo81, i think he wanted to know why, since CloneDVD2 clearly has the function to split DVD's, why didnt they include a function that would do it in one go without *any* user intervention. If i had to take a guess Suntower, having a completely automated way to split Dual Layer DVD's into Single layer DVD's *might* be construed as them encouraging people to copy. Remember that right at the beginning Dual Layer blank DVDs were almost impossible to get hold of no matter how much you were willing to buy - so that in itself was the best copy protection for preventing people making duplicates that were a 1:1 quality-wise.... imho of course...
