    This is my first attempt at burning. I am going to back up my copy of Star Wars Episode II and, on loading the disc into my DVD burner, am a little perturbed to see that the quality is listed at just 46%, not something that I want to see. How do I get the quality up? I'm very new to CloneDVD2 so I don't really know what to do. I don't care about the extra features or the menus or anything like that, I just want the movie. If I burn it just like it is will I really only be burning this movie at 46%? Because that is way too noticeable and I'm not going to go that road. Or will CloneDVD2 shrink the movie for me and give me better quality later? Sorry about all the questions, I am brand new and am using CloneDVD2 and AnyDVD.

    And just so you know, I do not have DVD Encryptor or DVD Shrink, and don't plan on getting them unless it is completely necessary. So if anyone can just give me some info besides trying to tell me to go get more software that would be greatly appreciated, because that will be useless to me! Thanks!

    When you first open CloneDVD2, select the top menu choice. This will allow you to copy the main movie only.

    Make sure you have only one language selected and no Subtitle languages.

    Try to get the Quality into the "green" if possible. If you remove everything you can then that is about all you can do.

    DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter are handy to have and they are free. It gives you more options.

    I guess I don't get what you mean by select the top menu choice. There is preserve menus, and I got rid of that, and it increased it to 54%. That's better. Then there is a bunch of stuff that you can either select or de-select. The first three are what interests me the most... It goes like this...

    Title Play Time Chapters Audio Settings
    01 angle 1 2:22:20 51 AC3/6 EN, AC3/2 ES, AC3/2 FR AC3/2 EN
    01 angle 2 2:22:20 51 AC3/6 EN, AC3/2 ES, AC3/2 FR AC3/2 EN
    01 angle 3 2:22:20 51 AC3/6 EN, AC3/2 ES, AC3/2 FR AC3/2 EN

    What does that mean, and should I remeove anything if I just want the movie? If I de-select one of them it will add 2% quality but if I get rid of all of them it brings it up all the way to 100%, which is obviously something I cannot do. Then there are many boxes below that that I could either select or de-select...

    Somehow I don't think I'm doing it right, because I was under the impression that if I got rid of all the extra features and kept everything but the movie I would have a heck of a lot better then 54%. Anyone care to help me out here?

    I think fasfrank was referring to the top selection 'Copy DVD Titles' on the fist page of CloneDVD. Select only one title (usually title 1 is the main featrue). You don't need the other angles and only one 5.1 track (will support surrond and normal sound setups). Try a test burn on RW media, usually 60% or better will be ok. It is up to you to judge.

    For best quality (100%, no compression) you can use CloneDVD to split the movie into two DVD5 disk (can preserve menus if desired). Select help on the first CloneDVD screen to look at the manual, it tells you how to split. The explanation may seem complex at first but it really is not that hard to do.

    Also go www.slysoft.com and check out the support area. They have excellent links to sites (like this one) for questions, problems and instructions. Here is an example;

    This link will give some detailed instructions for AnyDVD/CloneDVD.
    good luck & regards

    That makes a TON more sense... I get it. Thanks! I'll try to burn the DVD and if I have any more problems with doing just the movie I'll post it here!

    I usually keep the English subtitles, they take up so little room that it does n0t effect the quality. Also there are some movies (Kill Bill, Hidalgo come to mind) that have very small English subtitles tracks for the portions in the movie where they speak another language. Usually the subtile is in the movie but in these cases and a few others you will not get the English translation if all subtitles are eliminated.
