MY RECORDER DVDRO4 BY ILO WILL NOT RECORD CLOSED CAPTIONING.

ALSO THE CLOSED CAPTIONING IS IN SPANISH ON A DVD I BOUGHT.

    WHY?

    please shutoff the caps.
if your talking about a dvd recorder standalone, they just dont record subtitles(mine doesnt either)as far as your dvd disc only having spanish closed captioning....maybe thats all it came with....I've seen several like that.

THANKS MR. JIM DANDY. YOU SEEM TO KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT.
MY ILO DVDRO4 IS HOOKED TO SATELLITE,VCR AND TV.

WHEN I RECORD A TV PROGRAM THAT IS CLOSED CAPTIONED, THE DVD RECORDS

THE PROGRAM BUT NOT THE CLOSED CAPTIONING. WHY.

I am not familiar with ILO's DVDRO4, but you should check the features listed in its user manual. If closed caption recording isn't listed, it may simply lack the ability to record closed captionioning. While all TV's sold in the USA are required to be able to display closed captioning, DVD recorders sold here are apparently not required to record that portion of the signal.

There is at least one DVD recorder that does have this feature, the Panasonic DMR-ES10, another "inexpensive" DVD recorder. I have seen it in action.
