    Yep you've gotta check the packaging. If it says 'Made in Taiwan' above the barcode, it's a CMC-Mag. If it says 'Made in Japan', you're golden.

    I've been seeing quite a few reports of canadian members getting those maxell cmags in the dash format the last few months. Looks like they migrated their way down to the USA, UGGH!

    That's the main reason why I don't recommend taiwanese maxell in the dash format.

    @movies27

    juss a word of advice, i am one of the FEW people that HAVE had success with Ridata Ritek G05s in the past (about 2 years ago)...but, lately, i would be SOMEWHAT weary about the RitekG05s especially in the PRINTABLES...there have been NUMEROUS reports in both MY thread as well as other specific RITEK related threads stating how the QUALITY of the RitekG05s have declined significantly in the last year or so...

    i sincerely wish you the best of luck w/ ur batch...i really don't use Ritek anymore since the more recent issues that have been reported, but i CAN vouch for the Ridata Riteks from 2+ years ago, they were outstanding...i still get low 90s quality scores when i scan them today~ :) i REALLY don't know about the current production line that is being sold online from the online media retailers these days...it COULD have improved, but i don't know for sure...

    as to getting cmc mags recently here in the States under the Maxell brand MIT 8x dvd-r flavor...that must have been a big SURPRISE for ya huh? :p

    docTY~

    yea i was shocked to get cmc-mag's.i've been usng the maxell (Ritek G05 in the regular gold discs & in the printables ...and the quality was superb..so i'm guessing these should be fine to since they're basically Ritek without going thru the middleman (Maxell).i get them tomorrow by the way.

    Yup, I just got those Maxell -r's and they are cmc-mag's. The +r's are still ritek G05's so far. The 16x Maxell -r's, gold tops, code out as prodisk. Looks like they've gone cheap.

    You better re-check those plus maxells. If they're plus 8x,they'll code as Ritek-R03 or Maxell-002-00.

    The ritek G05 is the dash 8x.

    Dash 16x maxell gold tops?

    I haven't seen any of the 16x maxell media in my locale. I will be cautious of them.

    Prodiscs definitely suck hind tit.

    Your right. Mine are maxell 002's. My brother in law lives in Florida and got the 16x without realizing it. I live in New York so they are making the rounds. Showing up at Wal Mart.
