Well .. I have an OLD CD player at work. When I burn my original CD's to Taiyo Yuden Company ltd (fuji) they will not play. I thought these were suppose to be the " high quality". When I use my Memorex(CMC magnetic corp) cd's they work. I thought these were suppose to be not as good? Why does the worse of the 2 work better??
TYs tend to be better overall, but it doesn't mean it's better for *every* single CD-R. You'll get faulty TYs once in a while and you'll get good CMCs once in a while. But over the long haul, TYs tend to work better for most people's setup (according to the posts I've read). Note that your drive, burn speed, etc., are also factors that'll affect the CD-R, so everyone gets different experiences with TYs and CMCs. For me, I don't have a problem burning or reading CMCs. Both of my drives work well with them. However, a lot of people say CMCs don't last very long (only about 6-12 months), but I haven't confirmed that myself yet.
