Coasters are what you end up with, when you get a bad burn on dvd or cd. They end up unusable, so you can use them as coasters on your coffee table, to set your drinks on..................)

Your problem could very well be the blanks you're using, but can't swear to it. The way to find out, is get a different brand blank and try it. If it does the same thing, you'll know it's probably the burner. Make sure you have the newest firmware for your burner.

Buy a pkg. of name brand DVD blanks (Sony, Maxell, Fuji), that are made in Japan. Not Taiwan. It will say on the pkg. Verbatims are good too. They are made in Taiwan and Singapore. Both are supposed to be good, but I just get the ones made in Singapore.
    Good luck!

Also remember that slower is better, if you can burn at 16x I would go 8x or even 4x.
Plus you get what you pay for media that is on sale is on sale for a reason, it's cheap.

    Just passin by:

Another thought is that you may be burning too close to the edge of the media if you are getting freezes and pauses and pixelations near the end. Set your target size to 4300 in your burn settings. This will help, especially when you are using poor quality media.
