Is there a codec checker similar to GSpot? I have DL a series of Only Fools and Horses and its green! So I have gone to use my GSpot and it comes up with the following error:-

Warning: DirectShow crashed while GSpot was attempting to obtain information about a codec.

This is usually due to damaged, misconfigured, conflicting, or poorly written codec drivers. It is possible, perhaps even likely, that other media players will crash when they attempt to play this file as well, as most of them will also use DirectShow. GSpot was able to intercept the crash, and has attempted to identify the codec or filter involved; uninstalling or reinstalling this codec or filter may solve the problem.

The codec was tentatively identified as:

    C:WINDOWSSystem32lameACM.acm
    msacm.lameacm

I have tried to reinstall, over install etc and aint having any luck

It seems to me that the File you have is Corrupted...
If it is an AVI file then Install the "FFDShow Decoder" because it can decode allmost every AVI format and if after installing FFDshow you still can not watch the File then it is Certain that the File is Corrupted..
This happens all the Time with Downloaded Movies...

PS: There are "Legal" downloaded Movies so when someone says they are Downloading Movies it doesn"t mean they are Illegal...

As for downloaded movies... have a look at rule 5.
