I created an .avi file in nero 8 and everyone who was given the file cannot open in windows media player. When you right click in windows mendia player under properties the codec says nero resize. What can be done to insure they run in windows media player. We even downloaded codec from microsoft? I emailed the problem to Nero with no response.
    Help.

I downloaded Klite 3.9 and it is running now in windows media player 11 - 10 still problems but seems to have delayed reaction as the file is 1.8 GB's. Am going to save as a mpeg which is going to make it more pixilated and not as good resolution but will work for what we need. What other file other than .avi can retain the quality and run in media player?
I really appreciate your feed back.

i think nero which made your avi is the problem... its prolly nero specific codec and not the general avi most know...

is it mkv or h264 ?

use gspot on the avi to get info
    -------------

try loading the file into virtualdubmod ignore error popup clcik no to it

then go to file / save as xvid/mpeg4 compression.
    -------------
what is your actual project what you making the avi from?

    Rotary,

I'll do that this weekend. Your right it must be there own codec. We saved it as a mpeg1 and it works fine on Windows Media Player just not as good of resolution.

The video is made up of high resolution renderings for a new property in Vegas with lifestyle video and audio.

    Thanks Again

yes looks like HD quality file like h264 or x264 mkv file

need to know more on that file in gspot.

wmp will play mkv with codecs installed, but on mine it pops an error i just ignore it and it plays...

tell your friends to get VLC a free player off the net it plays most things and is free and awesome!
