Ill set a codec like windows media 9, and ill set the bitrate, then i'll click ok, then ill record, and then ill make the bitrate like- a mere fraction of the first one, and they come out as the same quality and file size- i was wondering- why is this? most of my expectations are low, since nobody seems to be answering or replying to my other questions- i take it this forum is full of deadbeats. oh, well... i'm giving it a shot

Look, with out being rude or anything when asking for help you have to be more specific, beacuse in video capturing their are numerous methods software/hardware and if you are not specific no-one can understand what it is you are doing, the first thing is tell us your software setup, your hardware setup then your requirements i.e what it is that you are trying to achive...

Also another thing, simple politness like, 'please' 'thank you', and general things like that will tend to get you more response then saying things like calling people 'deadbeats' which is unfair, as their are many skilled, kind, talented, knowledgable people on this forum.

The point of using technical forum such as this one is too share, and debate/discuss in such a manor that helps everyone.

It is unlike other forums used to slander/ backbite and generally verablly each other towards a pointless goal which is to fuell each others hate.

sometimes people think that being behind a keyboard and having anonymity gives them a license to behave however they please. Although this is a sad fact some use the internet in a negative way, i really do hope when people beacome more 'mature' and responsible they will conduct their behaviour in cyberspace as they would in real life.

Please do not think that i am having a go at you Cakefoo, so please do not take this to heart in the wrong way! Just pointing you in the right direction and i hope this helps.

    ah, my apologies-
i tend to slip from polite after a time of displeasure-
computer bugs are one said displeasure ;)

i'm trying to record a video live from a tv tuner. the codec would be, say, windows media 9- ill set the bitrate on it and all those other little sliders you get with that codec- and after clicking ok, and then recording, and then playing the video back, i'm noticing filesize and length is no different, even though i've been varying the bitrate, dramatically. this problem, along with another problem-
and that is this- the videos i record in realtime with this particular capture card and codecs like mpeg, divx, but not wmv, mind you- the videos don't survive audio-video synchronization when i fastforward through a bit or if i click somewhere on the play timeline- (windows media player, and also in the tv tuner video playback). at first, i thought the video slowly went out of synch, but i noticed it also loses sync when i click elsewhere on the timeline as well. so, this bug effects me greatly, with all codecs, except for the WMV codec. that one works fine, sync-wise, but i can't stand the quality of that codec- even at 1400 kbits/second- it just doesn't come out sharp; it comes out slightly milky/cloudy, and the blockiness is a major quality issue. well, not major, but i've known that divx works much better. the video card is a leadtek winfast tv2000xp deluxe. the cpu is a pentium 4, 2.4 ghz. it's my dad's. i'm 20. lol. ???? i'm just giving you the details. i'm not really willing to take the time to re-capture something with a time sync fixer- so if there's any kind of fix that would make my codecs operate the way they were intended to be operated, that'd be great... thanks.
