My tower was recently serviced to remove many virusus that corrupted the system. In order to get the tower to function, the system was totaly wiped clean. The xp os was reinstalled as was player "classic" player 9, and VLC. At this time NONE of the players will open or run a NON-COPY PROTECTED DVD. I had a codec pack downloaded from K- LITE.com. I cannot find this site again. Can someone please provide me with a link to this site? I was useing what they called a MEGA PACK 345 expressly for WINDOWS PLAYERS. This is the only difference in the desktop fom then to now. Will this solve my problem. ALL 3 players functioned perfectly when the codecs were installed. On a related subject, I am going to get a PENTIUM 4 tower soon. Does anyone know of an extremely easy software package that will allow me to burn dvds of music or video downloaded from the web useing the rewrite burner that will be installed in the tower? I am a complete newbie, I know nothing. I am looking for a program that has a interface that looks and functions like a vcr as I am old school. I have a NERO program installed and cannot understand a word of it. I need something in PLAIN ENGLISH! Computereeze is a foriegn language. I also need the program to tell me the difference in use between a SINGLE WRITE AND A REWRITE DISC. I am leaning to the latter because of it*s similarity to video tape in how it is used. HELP!

Here it is: K-Lite Mega Codec Pack v3.7.5.

Below is how you can default Nero to English.

Thank you for the info. I have since found the codec pack. As far as dvd writers are concerned I have decided not to bother since to my mind they are too complicated to use as compared to the vcr they were designed to replace. Computer counterparts are just as complicated if not more so not to mention that many web sites do not allow content to be downloaded to hard drive let alone burn to disc. Useing a capture device for external sources is also complicated. To me all this adds up to a useless system from a use standpoint.
