Codecs

    i have been downloading films but media player wont play them it says codec not supportted i have xvid and divx what else is there what would i need i am running media player 10 on XP

    What you need depends on the file. No need for a codec though, only the decoder part is needed for playback.

    Try something like Media Info or GSpot to detect what the files are, then you will know what decoders/filters are required.

    As suggested in your other thread, get k-lite codec pack. I have been using the k-lite codec pack ( standard version) for years with never a problem opening any file. Available here too:http://home.hccnet.nl/h.edskes/mirror.htm The only difference between versions is other programs are included but you will be able to choose those you want.
