I can get incredible DL speeds if I use the ports in the 60,000 zone, but I think they cought me because after a few min of DLing, everything got screwy; websites wouldn't work, DL stopped, and so on, but i never got in any trouble. I dont see how they could actually prove that you were DLing illegal stuff. I am not allowed to let my computer be a public server (so I have to bring my Uploads to 0, sorry) and I cannot download illegal files (so I lie about it) according to my school's policy. I'm still gonna do some research before I DL again to be on the safe side.
I tried the ssh PuTTY and it wont let me put anything in the fowarded ports. On top of that i dont know what port to use anyways and i have never used an ssh before so for gods sake help.
I finally have SSH and it was going well but now i got an error message that says "Disc Quota Exceeded." I am using silenceisdefeat as my SSH.
I was just going to start a thread about using BT at universities. All of last year and so far this fall, I've been able to download at nice speeds and with no problems. Then all of a sudden, about 3 weeks ago, everything changed. Now I'm in the 3-10 kbps range, and sometimes my downloads just sit at 0.0 overnight. I play an online golf game sometimes, and that went from extremely quick and stable to very sluggish and laggy wih frequent disconnects. I know how to port forward, but obviously there's no router here to tinker with. I guess I'm at the mercy of my campus connection, right? I guess I got spoiled...
yeah i tried using the 60000 range of ports and still had red smileys. And can anyone tell me how to use silenceisdefeat to play Halo with no lag. Because i cant own with lag.
maybe the ports depend on the school I go to Cal Poly SLO and I still get a NAT error, but the speeds are incredible
I finally did buy an SSH,Silenceisdefeat, and when i first used the built in bittorrent command, i was getting fast downloads. But then gave me a "disc quota excedded" error. And when i try to get it to work with Ares or Azeureus, it goes slower than with no SSH. What is going on?
