I've got quite a few >1 hour DVD's made from my DV camera that I'd like to combine. I should have done this when I first made the discs and had the raw DV files, but I usually make these discs as I fill a tape up (most of these are of my daughter....kind of a watch-as-she-grows kind of thing) and I don't like keeping 10+gb files on my laptop with no backup (I recycle tapes pretty fast).

How can I take the video DVD's and combine 2 discs to 1 without losing any quality? They would all come to under 2 hours each this way.

Rip each DVD to HDD , then use Re-Author mode in DVD Shrink [job done].

If it does come out to be slightly over 4.37Gb then it will need to be compressed (no matter how many hrs).
