combining .avi files artifacts

    Just downloaded Avi joiner to try and combine two .avi files into one, which was successful, however it left the resultant .avi with lots and lots of artefacts, so much so that the video was un-watchable.

    Anyone any better programs for doing this or had the same problem and managed to fix it? there doesn't seem to be many options in Avi joiner to tweak settings and the like.

    Any help appreciated.

    Have you tried any other program to join the files?
    For example, Virtualdub can do this.

    Open the first, then select file/append to add the second.

    Video/direct stream copy
    File/save avi
