I've used avi2dvd to make some dvd's out of my avi collection. however, apparently one of my avi files has a different resolution than the others, and it won't combine it with the rest. what program should i use to change the file's resolution?
When you say "combine" do you mean you want to merge the .avi together or you just want it to play as another title on the DVD? If just another title try DivxToDVD free version. Do a test burn with DVD+RW if you can. If you get autio sync problems then try using TMPGEnc Plus and DGPulldown to convert. If you google DGPulldown Guide you should get one that explains using TMPGEnc with DGPulldown to avoid sync issues going from .avi to DVD with different framerates etc.. If you're cheap like me you can set TMPGEnc Plus to output separate .m2v and .mp2 files and input these to DvdAuthorGUI freeware to author a DVD you can burn with Nero or DVD Decrypter.
Well i did want to burn my different avi's as seperate titles on a dvd, but i found that in avi2dvd i had to merge the files in order to burn them all on a single DVD... that's why i came across this problem with different resolutions. so i understand that the way to do it is using divx2dvd? where can i find a manual on how to do that?
You don't need a manual. Select all the .avi files with the input file browse dialog(for some reason it sticks them on the input line in reverse order but you can always cut and paste to get the order of titles the way you want.) Select an output folder. Push the Convert Button. Burn with Nero or any DVD burning software that can burn VIDEO_TS folder to DVD.
