my girlfriends computer is an old Pentium III with 128MB ram. I researched it and it can handle up to 512 MB ram. I bought 2 pqi 256 MB sticks same speed as original ram and they wont work. The computer freezes when you start it up. I tried each one seperately but no luck. Any help to why this is would be greatly appreciated. thanks - Jared

Hate to say it, but some motherboards are just finicky about what memory sticks they're compatible with. Go to the mobo or computer manufacturer's website and see what they say are compatible brands of memory. You might have to return the memory, and get whatever the manufacturer recommends. OR, both memory sticks might just be bad (unlikely, but possible).
