I'm pretty sure I hooked everything up correctly. I had to take a molex plug from one of my DVD drives to plug it into the CK3. I suspect that something happens with this when I turn it on and it shuts down. Can anyone help me? Is there an alternative way of powering the CK3? What about the serial port?
CRAP! The molex port starting smoking the last time I flicked it on and the comp shut down. I yanked it out immediately. Should I risk doing what you said?
Do you hook everything up after you turn the computer on, or before? I was hooking everything up before it turned on: the molex, the mini-usb, the sata and the probe. When I got to Windows, I switched it on and it always shut down. I did this for 3-4 times max. The last time I did this it started smoking. You usually just take a molex from another drive and plug it into the CK3 right? Could I have gotten a bad CK3? I plugged the molex back into the DVD drive and it still works fine.
I've never had an issue turning the CK3 on while I was booted into Windows. I turn it off and on all the time while the PC is on.
How do you usually plug in the power source/molex? I just unplugged a computer DVD drive and put it into the Ck3. Is this ok to do? In any case, should the Ck3 be ok if I yanked it out right as I saw it smoking? Thank you for your help leerage.
I would try the CK3 on a different computers molex plug. I have a PCI Power/SATA pass through so all my connections are made on the inside. I just plug a molex cable into the back of my computer and run it to the CK3. Same with the SATA connection.
