Comp Shutting Off

    Well. I dont know whats wrong. I have a regular compaq persario and it shuts off. This happens when to much activity goes on. ie running a game. and im stumped anyone? I did a couple factory restorsa and it shuts off on those too

    check your cpu temp, make certain cpu fan is working & the cpu heatsink is clean. check the can shaped objects which are capacitors on your motherboard are flat topped & not domed!!

    how do i chech the temps?

    in your bios check health monitor or the motherboard cd might have a program for windows to show temp, rpm & such.

    well i cleaned out the fan and heat sinks.. never seen anything more clogged with lint!!

    keep an eye on it every so often. also if cpu fan or any fan makes a groaning noise when 1st powering up than it needs to be lubricated!!
