Hi. This is the first time I'm posting here so tell me if I'm doing anything wrong. I think this has been asked before but here goes... I wish to know if these are possible. 1) I want to make a collection of movies, as back-up, in one DVD-R which is of 4.7 GB. I know the video files will fit in the disc as I have checked. The video files will most probably need to be converted to another format which would allow the Xbox to run them. This can be done easily. The thing I want to know is that is it possible to burn the converted video files in one DVD-R disc of 4.7 GB and to play them individually in XBMC using a Menu screen of my liking which would have the relevant movies listed to choose from? Also, I would appreciate it alot if someone could tell me which format should the video files be converted to, to play on the Xbox without any major changes in the quality. 2) The video files are not in English so each of them have their own seperate .srt files, example: "Video file 1" - "Video file 1.srt" "Video file 2" - "Video file 2.srt" You get the picture. So I want to know if it is possible to somehow combine them, if you will, each of the Video file combined with their respective .srt file. Or if by any means, have XBMC play the movie with the subtitles in its .srt file. I need to know if the above mentioned tasks are possible and can be done. For number 2, I think I may have stumbled upon a software but I'm dubious that it will work. I just would be glad that I could view the back-ups on the Xbox so my PC can be less jam-packed and if ever I got struck by any errors, spyware or viruses, I would still have the back-ups. XBMC can play pretty much any video format you throw at, so you probably don't have to convert. I have no idea whether it supports subtitle files or not, as I haven't tried it myself. However, I know for a fact that you can burn videos to a data disc and be able to watch them with XBMC.
Thanks for the reply, friend. I see you have stated that we can burn video files to a data disc and be able to watch them on XBMC. By data disc, do you mean that we can burn the avi files, using Nero Express 6, as 'Data Disc'. There is an option in Nero Express 6 that allows us to burn files as 'Data Disc', so is the term you are referring to that will play in XBMC? Also, I wish to create a kind of collection of movies in one disc in which we would be able to use a menus of our liking and in this menus, the movies that we have burned, would be available in a list where we could select which movie we would like XBMC to play. Something relatively close to the MXM (Multi-X Menu) menu that we use for games with the exception of the preview feature. Is this possible? I would really appreciate it if you could help me out on this as I have to make a multi-movie disc by Friday to play on XBMC. Thankyou so much for your cooperation. -Rydium41
That'd be it. If you burn it as a data disc, you'll be able to select files from a list. If you've ever used the video file manager that's built into XBMC, it's going to look like that. It'll look nothing like MXM, but since you'd be using XBMC anyway, I'm sure it'd look slick enough where no one would care about you selecting the files from a list. If you're trying to impress anyone, I'd get the MC360 skin loaded on it just to throw some people off
