I’m in need of some advice, I’m trying to made back ups of my Playstation 2 DVD-ROM games. I have a Playstation 2 SCPH-30001 R (version 5), Sony VAIO PCV-RS 422X Desktop Computer, Pioneer DRV-106D Burner (Burns DVD-R, -RW and DVD+R, +RW), Flip Cover and Magic Swap DVD version for Playstation 2. I have DVD+R discs, but I’ve been told the DVD-R are better for backing up PS2 DVD-ROM games and to buy Verbatim DVD-R over other brands. Now comes the tricky part, software…I’ve tried Nero and Record Now Max they say at install that they are not compatible with my Pioneer DRV-106D Burner: IDE / EIDE interface, Buffer size 2 MB, and uses DRT-DM (Distributed Real Time Defect Management.) Is there any software that will work with my burner? I’m about researched out…any information would be greatly appreciated.
Hi. To make backups of your ps2 dvd games, I suggest you use DVD Decrypter. I have done plenty of backups with this program and it has never failed me..You have something like 6 steps to get your backup. I don't think you should require another program.. for DVD games that is... as DVD Decrypter doesn't work for cds...
i agree with dvd decrypter, ive used it in the past and it has always worked. its simple, iso mode read, than iso mode write. if your burner still isnt compatible try alcohol 120% it works the same way like dvd decrypter for ps2 games hope this helped peace!
Thank you both so much for the help. DVD Decrypter 3.1.9.0 installed with no problems. I do on the other hand have a new problem and once again I seek wisdom. I used DVD Decrypter to read an ISO file from GTA Vice City (no problems), but when I burned the ISO file to a DVD+R it had two errors with the file addresses. Anyhow the game will boot up and play for awhile, but then it will freeze up. Two questions, question one, there was two files made when I had it create the ISO to the hard drive, from there I could only select one file the ISO or the MDS file; do i need to burn both to the DVD, if so how? Question two, is there anything I'm doing incorrect that you might be able to help me with?
burn the iso file. i really dont know whats going on with the malfuncitoning of the game. but it seems to me that your writer is at fault since dvd decrypter stores the image to your hd, than dumps it off to your burner and writes the image you choose. so im thinking it may be your burner. you may wanna check what speed you are writting at, most people burn at 1x to be sure everything is burn properly, others burn at different speed. you burn at whatever speed you want, but you should set your speed at 1x and see if that solves the problem.. also you may wanna check for firmware updates for your dvd writer, or it just might be the media you are using. post back stating what media are you using to burn, and what speed are you burning with? but forget the .mds file, burn the .iso file always.
Using Memorex DVD+R 4.7GB 4X The slowest speed my burner is 2.4, that is the speed I used for GTAvicecity Backup and that didn't work, but I'll give it another try down the road with DVD-R. I tried my second backup on Everquest Frontiers. No errors this time in the burn, but when playing it the DNAS check gave me a -402 error. Did something not copy over to the DVD+R Disc or is something checked(hardware)on the PS2 Disc?
Hello again, I am glad to report that DVD Decrypter has worked backing up two of my Playstation 2 games. I tried a third PS2 back up and I’ve run into another problem. I wrote the ISO file to the hard drive, no problem; but when I tried to write the ISO file to the DVD+R it told me it was too big. I checked the file and it is almost 8GB and the DVD+Rs I use are only 4.7GB. I wanted to know if there is a way to get around this. Can anyone help?
there are a few games that are too big to fit on to dvd-r. your best bet is to just play the original, you could rip the game down, but you will lose all the movies and extra stuff. There are only a few backups, (ones before 2003) that you can play online, nothing you can do about it at the moment. Lastly, when using dvd decrypter, if more than 1 image is made, burn the .mds file, it will link the images together and burn.
www.swapmagicfix.com has information on burning backups on to two DVDs, but one of the softwares needed, Sony CD/DVD Generator v1.05 I cant seem to find anywhere. Does Anyone know where I might be able to find a copy?
guys i have alcohol 120% but i'm having trouble using it. i was told that before i make the image,i should select the copyright protection that the games has,but it doesnt give me that choice... what can i do??????? thanks in advance!!!!!
