Right now i have a large dvd file at around 6.6 gbs and i'm wondering if i could possibly compress it to a
smaller file without much quality loss on to a 4.37 gb dvd-r disc. If anyone could help me that would be off the hizzle fo shizzle. Ye yeah!!!

You use DVD Shrink which will bypass most DVDs out there and it will shrink it as well. Here is, in my opinion, the best dvd shrink guide out there. But keep in mind that DVD shrink stopped updating so for some new movies, not all, you will need a diff program, but dvd shrink can handle most out there right now.
