compressing video

    hi , i'm a complete newbie , can someone tell me of a good free program for compressing video ? my camera does mpeg video and the files are very large , 50 mb for a 39 second video . i want to post them on the net and put some on my cell phone and send them to people . i had the trial for divx and that seemed to work pretty good but it expired .

    thanks a lot for your help pryme , that's what i needed .
    i have one more quesion that's not really related to the topic , can you tell me how to change the format from a regular cd to an mp3 ?
